Structural Design Engineer

Roughan & O’Donovan (ROD) is looking to recruit a structural design engineer with two to five years' relevant experience for a permanent position within our expanding buildings team in Dublin

The role

You will be part of a team recognised for delivering high quality, cost-effective and sustainable building projects across a range of sectors, including residential, healthcare, education and commercial.

Your key duties will include:

  • structural design

  • liaison with clients, design teams and contractors

  • site monitoring

  • project management

  • structural surveys and reports

  • site development design

Our buildings team works with architects, developers, local authorities and property owners to develop robust, long-lasting building designs. 

Our portfolio features:

  • private housing developments 

  • social housing developments

  • hospital facilities

  • retail developments

  • office buildings

  • primary, secondary and third-level school buildings

Recent award wins include:

Essential

  • Honours degree in structural or civil engineering (Level 8 qualification in the National Framework of Qualifications or equivalent)

  • Two to five years' postgraduate experience with a structural design consultancy working on buildings-related projects

  • Strong safety ethic

  • Good organisational skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Eagerness to learn and develop skills

  • Ability to work within a team or on your own under guidance

  • Fluency or a high level of proficiency in spoken and written English

  • Full and clean driving licence

Desirable

  • Experience of MasterSeries or similar structural design and analysis software

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD

  • Knowledge or experience of BIM/REVIT

  • Knowledge and experience of design in accordance with Eurocodes for concrete, steel, masonry, timber and foundations
