Your programme mentor will help you decide what you want from your career and tailor your path through the programme to best fit with your ambitions.

Dedicated mentors

You will receive one-to-one support from experienced mentors, who will guide your development and keep you on track to achieving your goals.

Challenging rotations

You will develop your technical skills by undertaking four challenging rotations, each of approximately six months duration, across a range of discipline areas, including bridges, transportation, buildings, environmental, geotechnical, water, research and site. 

Continuous professional development

Most of your learning will be on-the-job, but you will also attend a wide range of training courses, seminars and workshops, including a professional engineering course designed for graduates. 

A guided path to chartership

At the end of the programme, our team of mentors, chartered professionals and technical experts will be ready to help you reach your next career milestone: becoming chartered.

Role responsibilities

  • Support project engineers and project technicians on assigned projects, fulfilling the project brief in an efficient, controlled and safe manner 

  • Support the project engineer in carrying out design, reporting, contract documentation, checking and contract implementation activity

  • Support senior engineering and administration personnel in their day-to-day activities

  • Attend site and supervise and monitor site activities where appropriate

  • Promote adherence to our systems and standards

Requirements

  • First class or 2:1 master’s degree or equivalent in civil engineering or similar discipline, or expecting to obtain the same in 2025

  • Degree qualification(s) accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators (UK) and meeting the requirement for Chartered Engineer (CEng) or satisfying the CEng Academic Assessment with the Institution of Civil Engineers

  • Keen interest in the practical application of engineering

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Good teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills

  • Good work ethic

  • Fluency/high level of proficiency in spoken and written English

  • Work experience in the industry is an advantage
